These terms cover this website and the interest lists you can join from it. They are between you and Tideward Labs, a one-person software company in California. Using this site means you accept them.

This is not legal or compliance advice

Our products help you carry out obligations that the law places on you. They do not replace a lawyer or a compliance officer, and reading these pages does not create an attorney-client relationship. We cite the statutes and regulations we rely on so that you can read them yourself and take your own advice. You remain responsible for your own compliance, including for checking that anything our software produces on your behalf is correct before you rely on it.

Joining a list is not a purchase

Where a page invites you to join a waiting list, you are telling us you are interested and nothing more. No money changes hands, you are not committed to buy, and we are not committed to build. If we decide a product is not worth building we will say so to everyone on its list and delete the list.

The prices shown on a product page are what we currently intend to charge. They are not an offer and they can change before the product exists. Where a page offers a pre-order, the price, the refund terms and the delivery date are stated at checkout and those terms govern that purchase, not this page.

What we ask of you

Submit your own email address, not someone else’s. Do not try to break, overload or probe this site, and do not use it to send anyone unsolicited mail. We rate-limit submissions and we may refuse or remove any that look automated.

Our content

The text, design and code of this site belong to us. You may quote it with attribution. The statutes, regulations and agency publications we cite are public documents and belong to no one.

No warranty for this website

This site is provided as it is. We try hard to keep the legal citations on it accurate and current, but regulations change and we may be wrong or out of date. We do not promise the site will always be available or free of error. Our products, when they exist, come with their own agreement and their own warranties.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of this website, including any regulatory penalty you incur. Because nothing on this site is sold to you, our total liability for it is limited to one hundred US dollars. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud.

Governing law

California law governs these terms, and the state and federal courts in California are where any dispute about them is heard. We would far rather you wrote to us first.

Changes

If we change these terms we change the date at the top. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new version.
